Official Mountain Guides El Chaltén

In town there are several  National Park operators and travel agencies companies offering  Mountain Guides services  to walk the different  trekking trails that can last a few hours or outings camp in which the equipment is included, including  food among others. There are of varying duration and technical difficulty such as Vuelta al  Huemul, Vuelta al Hielo ( Southern Continental Ice Field) or mountain ascents  , the latter requires climbing equipment and some level of experience.

The Southern Icefield can be accessed by Marconi Pass, north of El Chalten (1,500 meters) traveling around  the Fitz Roy and Torre, and descend by Paso del Viento  south of El Chalten (1,550 m) (around 6 days)  or continue south to Estancia Cristina – north of lake Argentino (6 to 15 days, depending on weather conditions). Among other excursions, for this you must hire the services of a registered mountain guide  in a specialized agency ( there are several in town). Physical Difficulty:  very demanding.  Technical Difficulty: high.
